Pastor's Letter - Feburary 18, 2018

By Leroy McCreary
Synopsis of weekly activity and observations

Another Mass School Shooting

Our church is deeply saddened to once again hear and internalize this despicable news. We started praying for the families that lost their children in this shooting at our Ash Wednesday service and we continue to today. Our prayer is twofold: one for Almighty God to comfort the bereaved families and two for our political representatives to take steps long overdue to get dangerous guns out of the hands of people.

As of this writing, Mother Laura Dozier remains at Southwest General Health Center and continues to make improvements in recovering from the flu and pneumonia.

Also, Sister Barbara Beverly is recovering from surgery at Metro-Cleveland Health Center.

Additionally, the Payne family is again praying for Jerry Payne who is their brother and is now at the Clinic. Thanks for your continued prayers and thoughts for them.

We express our deepest sympathy to the Brother Don Williams who lost his brother, Nicky Williams, whom the family laid to rest last week. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts.

On Wednesday, February 14 Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday here at the church Reverend Ronnie Henderson and Aimee Bonsell were married. We wish them much happiness.

Fellowship Meal

You did it again! We can truly say, "We've dined sufficiently!" The table spread last Sunday was awesome. Thanks for your continued dedication to promoting opportunities for our church family to fellowship and spend time breaking bread together. Clearly, these efforts contribute enormously to the quality of relationships among us as God's people.

Black History Presentations Continue Each Sunday at 10:00am

During the month of February, the Library Committee provides presentations that address the history of African Americans. These presentations have proven to be of great interest to us and they are scheduled to be held each Sunday morning at the Education Forum. They are free and open to all. You are invited to attend these sessions.

First Quarter Business Meeting

Please hold next Sunday, February 25 for our business meeting that will follow morning worship.

Church 45th Anniversary

Check Out Hunger Begins February 18

Do you shop at Dave's Markets, Giant Eagle, or Heinen's? Consider donating $1, $5 or $10 at the register to benefit the Harvest for Hunger Campaign during Check Out Hunger, February 18 through March 31. For every dollar you donate at the register, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank can provide four nutritious meals to our neighbors in need. Last year, Check Out Hunger donations raised enough money to provide more than six million meals!
