PCC Members voted Last Sunday to Select a New Pastor

The church has issued its call to Reverend C. J. Harkness to become its next pastor. Reverend Harkness will become the third pastor to lead the church following the retirement of Reverend Leroy McCreary. Since August 1997, Reverend Harkness has been an Associate Minister at Mount Zion of Oakwood Church in Oakwood Village, Ohio. In September 2010, he was ordained to the Christian ministry. He brings to the position of pastor in depth experience in pastoral duties such as preaching, advising, visitation and performing weddings and funerals.

 

He is a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary with a Masters' Degree in Practical Theology and also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH

 

Reverend Harkness presently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer of Baldwin Wallace University here in Berea, OH. He is married to Chante Harkness they have two children, Cydney and Caleb, and they reside in Bedford, OH

 

We gladly welcome Reverend Harkness and his family. Reverend Harkness has already started spending time with me in preparing to officially begin his pastorate here effective October 1, 2018.

 

Empty Bowl Supper Fundraiser

Berea Kiwanis provided the PCC Food Pantry of Choice a $1,391.00 check. Dianna Flama and Deacon Edward Napoleon attended the meeting and received the funds. A hearty thanks to each of you who purchased tickets last spring to help support the fundraiser that again benefitted our pantry.

 

New Born Twins

Sister Nadia Nichols is the proud grandmother of twin boys: Andre James, weighing in at 5 lbs. and 15 oz. and Avery Lee, weighing in at 5 lbs. and 10 oz. Congratulations to Nadia, Courtney, and Aaron. What a wonderful blessing!

 

Quarterly Business Meeting

Our next quarterly business meeting is scheduled for the second Sunday, September 9, 2018 following worship. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Ohio Fellowship of Community Churches Fall Meeting

Gahanna Congregational Community Church has agreed to host our fall meeting on Saturday, October 6, 2018. As we get closer to the date, we will have more details.
