Pastor's Letter December 2, 2018

By CJ Harkness
I would like for us to have a prayer focus this week to be on two things. First, those in several cities in the Midwest which are facing significant financial fallout over the impending closures of automotive plants.

Next, let us pray that our local, state and national leaders find the moral courage to work for justice instead of power and engage the strength of our hopes rather than the shadow of our fears.

Sunday, December 2, 2018

Greetings in the name of our Lord!

I will miss being with you in service today but know that I am with my family for a previously planned and much needed week of vacation.  I want to be an example as your Pastor and thus, it is important that I live by my own advice to seek rest, and rejuvenation mentally, physically and spiritually.  This is also an important time for me to be focused on my closest human relationships with my wife and children.  Whether it is a formal vacation such as ours, or a day trip to the park, I encourage us all to be intentional in the ways that we tend to our needs and the needs of those closest to us.

I would like for us to have a prayer focus this week (yes, I will make time to pray on vacation too!) to be on two things.  First, those in several cities in the Midwest which are facing significant financial fallout over the impending closures of automotive plants.  They are, of course, not the only people facing possible job losses.  They do, however, represent the fact that many among us live in fragile financial realities.  Let’s pray that God would use this moment to remind us all that all of our help comes from Him!  Next, let us pray that our local, state and national leaders find the moral courage to work for justice instead of power and engage the strength of our hopes rather than the shadow of our fears.

God loves you, I love you, and it Aint a Thang You Can Do About It!!

 Your Pastor,

 CJ
