Sunday January 13, 2019
Greetings in the name of our Lord!
We are beyond blessed to have the opportunity to see another week and should all take the time to stop and give thanks and praise to Christ for his unfailing love toward us in both the best and worst of times. I want to continue to emphasize the importance that each member of our church carefully and prayerfully consider their calling and commitment to the ministry as we march further into 2019.
Last week, I met with a small group of church leaders to discuss the appropriate approach to an inclusive and productive strategic planning season here at People's Community Church. During that meeting it became clear that the first order of business will be to begin the creation of a final report on the strategic planning initiative in the 2014-2019 plan. This will allow us to celebrate accomplishments and focus on any unfinished business this year. Looking forward to the next plan, we must ensure that we all operate from the same understanding of the Church's mission and values. To that end, work is underway to review all foundational documents of the church (Mission Statement, Bylaws, etc.). From there, we will engage ministry leaders and then the full congregation. Any proposals will, of course, be brought before the congregation.
In addition to seeking vision for the next phase of God's work through PCC, we must also pray earnestly for our nation. I encourage you to join me in asking God to move in miraculous ways to bring us together as a nation with justice, peace and prosperity for All. I will say more on this as the year unfolds but for now, I leave us with the reminder that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
