"Happy New Year!
I am excited to have been given the opportunity to see another year! I have great anticipation for all that God is going to do through People's Community Church and I hope that you are too. As we begin this year I wanted to remind the church of some statements that I made in my report at the annual business meeting. 2019 will be a year to celebrate all of the accomplishments and complete any unfinished business as set forth in the strategic initiatives which were set into motion in 2014. It is also the time to look towards the next iteration of God's plan for our congregation. I have asked a small group to help me begin the planning for a process which allows ALL members of People's Community Church to have voice in the way that we are moving into the future. Our goal is to be both inclusive and orderly.
To this end, I hope that you all will resolve with me to be intentional in our prayer lives and calling on God to make this year a "Year of Vision"! A vision, outside of God's will, is simply imagination. For that reason, I specifically ask that you pray for myself and all of our ministry leaders that we be constantly in tune with His direction. I also ask that each of you pray for God's guidance in what direction you should take in contributing your time, talents and treasure to People's Community Church. No matter what your title, you play a critical role in His plans.
I also want to give the congregation an update regarding our weekly Prayer meeting and Bible study. After some discussion at the end of 2018, it was decided that we would introduce a new format for our Thursday noon Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. First, the prayer meeting portion of our time will not change. It is critically important that we continue to have a systematic focus on members of our congregation in need of God's intervention and protection and that we regularly petition the Father for the desires of our hearts. Considering the input of participants, we hope to engage in a new study format which allows some to review and others to learn some fundamental understanding of the history and format of Biblical text. We will also be deliberate in our application of the Bible to our lives today and in our exploration of the impact of Biblical characters who are often unrecognized or overlooked (i.e. women in the Bible). Please consider joining us for this journey.
There is much more to come. One thing, however, will not change. In 2019 God will still love you and there still aint a thang you can do about it!
