Thanks for attending and fellowshipping with our guests from Mt. Zion Baptist Church as we watched a movie of interest. This time together with our brothers and sisters is a significant contribution to our living and supporting one another in the body of Christ and keeping the spirit of community alive in our beloved city. Also, thanks to our leadership teams for pulling this event together again.
As you well know, the annual Fishing Foundation is scheduled for Saturday, August 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's event will take place at the newly remodeled Coe Lake Pavilion behind the Berea Police Station. The Fishing Foundation has promised to provide a rod and reel, bait, box lunch and refreshments (water, snacks, and soft drinks/beverages) for every attendee. Also, they informed us that everyone will receive a Fishing Foundation t-shirt that they encourage everyone to wear.
Also, the Fishing Foundation encourages attendees to bring their own rods, reels and other gear if they'd like and to catch and release their fish but it's not a requirement.
As a reminder, everyone ages sixteen and older must have a valid State of Ohio fishing license.
We are pleased to inform you that up to 71 people have signed up to participate in this annual event. A grateful thanks to the Fishing Foundation.
International Council of Community Churches 2018 Annual Conference Theme: "Reunion 2018- Gateway to Glory"
As I mentioned last Sunday, the annual conference in St. Louis, MO was one of our best in terms of fellowship with members from other community churches, Bible study that was led by an outstanding scholar from Eaton University in St. Louis, the preaching by a number of our community church pastors, our visit to the St. Louis court to pray for justice as remembered the Dred Scott decision, and the wonderful program put on by our children and youth. Also, even though the overall attendance was down from previous years due to the NAACP's call for groups to boycott the city, the takeaways were spiritual encouragement and ample opportunities for us to support our mutual ministry across the nation. I want to again express my thanks to Christine Cameron, Winnie West, Tom Friedberg, Ava Batson, and Elaine McCreary for joining me in attending the 68th annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Trial Sermons and Guest ministers
The next step in the church's process to vote on selecting a new pastor is to conduct a special congregational business meeting. That meeting has been announced for quite a while and is set for Sunday, August 19, 2018 following morning worship. You are encouraged to attend and participate in the voting process. All PCC members including associate members are eligible to participate in the voting. We've informed the membership of this upcoming special meeting but would appreciate your continuing to assist us in getting the word out to all of our members.

This year's event will include a special ceremony to remember Deacon Al Albergottie and others in our church family who passed within the past twelve (12) months. Please submit names of your deceased loved ones to the North End Foundation office not later than August 1, 2018. Also, there will be a fencing demonstration here on our grounds at 645 North Rocky River Drive where we razed the house that was located there. Mr. John Shaughnessy, owner of Wayside Furniture, will give the demonstration that will begin right after the memorial ceremony. I've scheduled that to occur around 1:00pm or right after we finish eating.
Tickets are $25 per person and proceeds benefit the Berea Youth Workers. Please note I will need you to again bring plenty of desserts as you have done in past years to make this event exceptional! Thanks for your strong support for our youth in this community.
