Greetings in the Name of our Lord!
During this Lenten season, I am seeking God's presence and the discipline to dwell in it without diversion. When Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt 26) he found the disciples multiple times sleeping on the job. His admonition to them "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." rings true for me. I have times when I am so exhausted from the trials of life that I find it hard to carry out even the simplest of tasks that God has set before me. Too often I have "slept" on my daily communion with the Lord in the weakness of my flesh. I am therefore committing myself in these coming weeks to the disciple of prayer and fasting that I may seek His face and avoid temptation. If you have found yourself also, at times, spiritually sleeping on the job, I ask that you join faith with me in "Watching and Praying" that we might accomplish what the Lord has set before us.
I mentioned last week that I would like to enter into weekly prayer during the Lenten season and I have secured a line for a call in and/or video chat at noon beginning this Wednesday and continuing through the Lenten season. We will also email these instructions and hope that you will be able to join us for 15 minutes of reflection and prayer! Please consider a mid-week power-up session with us.
This week we will continue in our series, "Her Story" as we celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting some of the women of faith who challenge us and give us inspiration for our journey. Today, we will take a different lens on a familiar passage as we lift up Martha! We all know that the most important thing is to focus on Christ. Someone, however, has to take care of business as well. Stay tuned!
I love you, aint a thang you can do about it!
