I trust that you all have had a blessed week in the Lord. I was overwhelmed at the love and affirmation that was shared with my family and I this week and wanted to convey my heartfelt gratitude to all of you! I feel welcome and am excited to continue our journey together. I also appreciate all of the prayers that have been lifted. There is no doubt that they have undergird me in the early days of this journey.
This week I would be remised if I did not call our prayer focus to those who have been affected by the second major storm to hit our shores in recent weeks. We praise God for minimal loss of life and continue to pray for those whose lives and livelihoods have been transformed. It is imperative that we not ignore the plight of others and I ask that we all remain diligent in our prayer life and support of work that directly assists those in need. I also ask that we continue to pray for those in our congregation who are sick, shut in or in need of God's direction and guidance. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!!
This week's message will focus on a reflection that I have that calls us to remember not to over complicate our walk with Christ. It draws from the title of a book first published in 1986 by Robert Fulghum All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. Through the lens of my experience I plan to share why All I Really Need to Know I Learned at Grandpa's House. The message is not designed to dismiss the need we have to continue our growth and understanding of God's word. It is simply a reminder that the key principles which we learn early in our Christian walk apply no matter how old we get or how long we have been in the church. Let's seek God's wisdom on how we can all return to the basics of waling this pilgrim journey!
Abundance to you and each of your houses,
Your Pastor, CJ
