Berea City Council Honors Pastor McCreary

On Wednesday, September 4, 2018, the Berea City Council unanimously passed "ordinance 9-1 establishing that the street currently known as Wesley Drive shall hereby receive the honorary, secondary name of "Reverend Leroy McCreary Way." Members from the church that were able to make it were in attendance.

As pastor, I find it difficult to find the right words to express the joy I feel for this honor. As I mentioned at the council meeting, this honor fits so well for the hard work we have done on Wesley Drive by feeding those that come to our Pantry of choice, by employing Berea/Midpark students as well as college and university students into summer jobs, by exposing our youth in grades 1 through 6 to science in a fun way, by working cooperatively with all of the non-profit organizations in our city, and by being consistent in continuing to increase and provide quality outreach services to the citizens of Berea. Thanks for being there as a united front for our beloved church and city. Also, I gladly compliment the Retirement Committee, and especially sisters Renita Jefferson and Susan Malone, for spearheading the efforts that resulted in this honor for my work and ministry by our city council.

PRAYER: Almighty God, We thank You once again for Your demonstrated love for our church family. We credit You for moving the hearts and spirits of our city officials to honor our work and ministry. By naming a street to honor my ministry and service, these officials recognize Your blessings upon People's Community Church. We give You the honor, glory, and praise for this unimaginable blessing for your servant. Amen.

We were blessed with an additional grandson yesterday afternoon (now three grandsons and one daughter granddaughter for a total of 4 grandchildren). Larry McCreary Wicks born September 5, 2018 at 3:44pm weighing in at 6lbs. and 4 oz. Nikki is in Metro General Hospital as of this writing. Since our grandson arrived a tad earlier than planned, he is still being cared for at the hospital.

Ohio Fellowship of Community Churches Fall Meeting

Second Community Church has agreed to host our fall meeting on Saturday, October 6, 2018. As we get closer to the date, we will have more details.

Dear Praying Friends,

We are at the end of the month of August and, in France, at the end of the time of academic vacation. We are THANKFUL towards the Lord that we were able to spend the past couple of months in the mountains, away from the heavy heat that was experienced in the plains. Although I was not able to take any vacation this summer, it was good just to be in more peaceful surroundings. We are so THANKFUL for this opportunity!

Samuel really enjoyed his time in nature, camps, and with good friends. He is now very scared to start school on Monday in 6th grade in the nearby public school. I sense real deep apprehension in him, not to be able to withstand the temptations that he will be exposed to and not to have any friends. Could you please PRAY with us for the Lord's special protection around him, over his mind and thinking as he moves into this new environment?

Gary starts his work as an English teacher on Monday as well. He will be trained by his company (Wall Street English) and be teaching English to professionals. This is not a full-time job, but we are VERY THANKFUL for this opportunity. Could you please PRAY that the Lord give him the needed wisdom and creativity for this new opportunity?

I (Martine) am THANKFUL for having been able just to take care of work and family and my father as needed while trying to maintain enough sleep at night. Could you please PRAY for daily insight and strength to figure out a new routine for our family while maintaining a full-time job with Bakke Graduate University and a part-time job with FATEAC in Abidjan and catering for the needs of my aging father?

My father, Benjamin, had a fourth collapse this summer as well, so he went through another hospital experience... He has just moved into a small two-room apartment in the same building where we live, but this is a major transition for him after having lived in his own house for 50 years. He is THANKFUL for the Lord's provision for him, but needs your PRAYERS as well, in this time.

Finally, could you also please continue to PRAY for our many global students, many of whom are faced with serious family, health, professional and financial challenges as they seek to complete their studies and be better equipped to serve the communities where the Lord has called them.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor. 15:58).

With warm love in Him - and renewed thankfulness for your commitment to support us in prayer!
